Introduction

OSiRIS project resources are managed by University of Michigan ARC-TS for the purposes of conducting the research and scholarship mission of the Open Storage Research Infrastructure project. Additional administration may be provided by groups at Wayne State University, Michigan State University, or Indiana University.

Project resources may be located at University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, or Indiana University. Before sending confidential or personal information, you should understand that most materials on public university systems are, by definition, public records. As such, they are subject to laws and policies that may compel our member institutions to disclose them.

The www.osris.org public website is hosted by github.com and not by the above institutions. However the content of the site is managed by the same groups previously noted.

Information We Collect

The following information may be collected when you use OSiRIS services:

  • Your web browser type, operating system, and IP address from which you access the service(s).
  • Your eduPersonPrincipalName as asserted by the Identity Provider used by you during the single sign-on process. The eduPersonPrincipalName attribute is most likely a personally identifiable attribute that closely resembles your name and public persona.
  • The wiki and web pages you access (if applicable)
  • Edits you make to wiki pages (if applicable).
  • We may collect usage information such as web browser, IP address, etc via a service such as Google Analytics or similar.

Specific to the public www.osris.org website: Github.com may collect information such as web browser, IP address, etc subject to their privacy policies

How This Information is Used

The information is logged to monitor performance and security of our services. It may be retained to associate your identity with authorized privileges and usage accounting records. Usage information collected from web services may be used to analyze traffic patterns, browser preference, usage by region, etc.

Information Shared with Partners

None of the information is shared with partners with the exception of security staff during the investigation of a security incident.

Release of Information to Third Parties

None of the information collected by OSiRIS is shared with third parties. As noted, some information related to website traffic analytics may be gathered by 3rd party services. Such analytics would be used only by members of the OSiRIS collaboration.
